ECP Communications
April 7, 2020
Dear ECP Families,
We hope you are staying safe during these challenging times. We wanted to provide a few updates and reminders as we head into distance learning.
Launch of Distance Learning!
Last week students had the chance to learn about our distance learning platform and start to get more comfortable learning online. Yesterday was our first day of online instruction! We encourage parents to refer to the resources on our distance learning website to manage at-home instruction and the variety of resources available to support you during this time.
We recognize that the transition to distance learning will take time, patience, and collaboration. We are here to support you and your child as we make this transition. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you need support.
If your child is still in need of a computer, we recognize that online learning may be more difficult. Please use the resources on the ECP’s Distance Learning Home Page in the meantime and reach out to your child’s teacher if you need support. We will update you on next steps once the computers have arrived.
Attendance
Please remember to record your child’s daily participation by 9AM every weekday!
Spring Break
Next week is Spring Break. While there will not be online classes, students can continue to work on the variety of educational applications listed on the website. Teachers will also provide additional activities on the grade level page to help keep students engaged in learning during this time. You do not need to record attendance during this time. Online classes will resume on Tuesday, April 21.
Testing
Our students usually engage in testing in the Spring, but state tests have been canceled or postponed due to school closures; this includes English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC), CAASPP/SBAC, and Physical Fitness Testing.
Grading
We understand that the transition to online learning can be a difficult one and want to make sure no student is penalized for their inability to access online learning. We are currently researching best practices for grading during this unusual time. In the meantime, we ask that you do not stress about grades and instead support your child through this challenging transition ensuring they are trying their best to complete all assignments and reaching out to teachers during office hours for support.
Commitment
We know that these are challenging times and want you to know that we are committed to helping in any way we can as you support your child in transitioning to distance learning. As a reminder, our school website will have all the latest information.
Sincerely,
Danielle Lukk

Good Afternoon,
Due to a turnout larger than expected, we ran out of computers during our tech pick-up today. ECP will be purchasing additional computers to support distance learning. If you still need to get a computer (even if you gave your name today already), please fill out this form Here by 5PM on Friday, March 27th.
If you did not receive a computer today you will be provided with additional learning opportunities while we wait for the delivery of the newly-ordered computers. We will have more information about this plan to share next week. In the meantime, please continue to encourage your child to read, access any available educational applications, complete the packets handed out on March 13th, and access PBS educational programs as described here and more related learning opportunities here.
ECP will still be available tomorrow from 8-10AM to hand out medication and novels for 7th and 8th grade students. Please only come for these items, as no computers will be available.
Lastly, I want to thank you for your patience as we, like most schools, are trying to equip all families with necessities to access online learning opportunities.
Thank you,
Danielle Lukk

Dear ECP Families,
Endeavor has continued to be in constant communication with the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) and public health officials to ensure we are delivering the most up-to-date information regarding COVID-19. Following a recommendation from LACOE, Endeavor will extend school closure until Monday, May 4th and will provide additional updates well before May 4th on what will come next.
We understand how challenging these decisions may be for our families and we appreciate your support and patience. We are very grateful for all that our students, staff, and parents are doing to care for our students’ safety, wellness, and educational needs.

March 20, 2020
Good Morning ECP Families,
We want to thank you for the PRIDE values you’ve demonstrated as we all work together to support students during this difficult time.
On March 17th, the governor indicated that students may remain off campus through the end of the school year. While no final determination has been made by the governor, I am confident that we will rise to the occasion. We will continue to think creatively as we explore learning platforms, assess access to technology, and research a variety of resources to offer systems of learning support for our students, our parents, and our colleagues. Our greatest priority is to ensure that every student has the ability to access the highest quality education given the circumstances.
Our team is hard at work gathering the necessary information to develop our distance learning program. Distance learning is defined as instruction in which the student and instructor are in different locations. We expect to share more information about our distance learning program next week.
We also recognize that the challenges presented by COVID-19 are difficult. We want to share some helpful tips and resources.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention offers guidelines for managing stress. Here are some basic practices:
- Social distancing, not social isolation: Connect with your loved ones and offer support and, when possible, assistance. Video chats, texting and audio calls can all help keep personal relationships strong and help us to maintain our perspectives and feel better.
- Guide your children: Remember, children take their cues for reacting to the world from you. Already, their routines have been disrupted. Watch for their distress, reassure them, and set a calm environment by limiting news intake and creating consistent schedules. See below for a few resources to help!
- Here are some Play Ideas for Families at Home: https://www.encourageplay.com/blog/awesome-play-ideas-for-families-at-home
-
- Here are two free applications to help you and children with relaxation techniques:
Calm promotes relaxation through meditations, sleep stories, nature images, and sounds.
With sections for both parents and children, this Sesame Street app teaches young kids how to calm down and solve everyday challenges. Children will enjoy the interactive “play time” with a Sesame Street monster, and parents can view educational tools to help them manage their child’s anxieties or anger issue.
- Exercise and eat well: We can continue to be active and go outside as long as we maintain social distance. Eat nutritious meals, sleep seven hours a night, and maintain a consistent schedule.
- Limit news intake: It can be tempting to constantly track new information. Instead, take breaks from media coverage. Use a few, authoritative sources to check for. Be wary of misinformation on social media.
Families who work with the Mental Health Agencies Hathaway-Sycamores or ENKI will be able to continue to receive mental health support. Below you can find more information about each agency:
- Information about Hathaway-Sycamores:
- The agency will provide all family and student services via phone. Please reach out to Richard Ruiz at 626-715-3064 or Brian Dance at 626-503-0041 if you have questions in regards to setting up an appointment.
- Information about ENKI:
- The clinic remains open and families are welcomed to receive in-person therapy. If families would prefer, they can opt to receive tele-therapy services. Please contact them to (866) 227-1302 if you would like more information.
If you are interested in any of the services above, please feel free to reach out to the individual mental health agency. Or you may call the School Counselor Andrea Perez at 323-840-4605 or email her at aperez@endeavorcollegeprep.org for more information.
As our time apart progresses, we will continue to distribute updates and keep everyone informed through our website and social media. Staff members will continue to call to check-in on your family but don’t hesitate to reach out to them for support.
Sincerely,
Danielle Lukk

Dear ECP Families,
The situation with coronavirus/COVID-19 is unprecedented and evolving rapidly. Safety is always our paramount concern. After significant consideration, planning, and guidance from the state and county Departments of Public Health, we have decided to suspend on-campus learning for two weeks as we evaluate the appropriate path moving forward.
While the campus will be closed, we want to ensure students are still able to continue their learning through instruction and practice at home. Students will come home today with an At-Home Instructional Packet to complete daily. If your child has internet access and a computer at home, they can complete assigned iReady lessons; otherwise it is not required. Additionally, K-8 students should be reading independently, and 6-8 students should read their assigned novel and complete their novel study sheet at home daily. Our staff is committed to supporting your child’s learning throughout this process and will be available by phone, if needed. Please do not hesitate to reach out for assistance. If for some reason your child wasn’t at school to receive a packet, the office will be able to provide these packets from 8-10AM on Monday.
We want to thank all our staff for their continued efforts to support students through this challenging time. We also want to thank families for their patience as we worked together as a community to ensure everyone’s safety without compromising educational rigor.
As the situation develops and more information becomes available, we will continue to send updates through social media and ClassDojo. Please continue to check these sources and see the list of resources and canceled events below.
