We asked the LAUSD Board to delay the vote on new charter school policies. They listened: the new vote on charter school policies is August 4.
Now, we need the Board to make changes to the policy so that LAUSD does not shut down good schools like ours.
On August 4, the LAUSD Board plans to update their policies to reflect new state laws– but District staff have proposed changes that would ban great new charter schools and possibly close great existing schools
We are in the middle of an education crisis in Los Angeles. This is a moment where we need to support every great school we have– not work to shut them down.
Stand with us and tell the LAUSD Board to oppose unlawful changes to policy that threaten our schools and to work with us to protect great schools, including charter schools.

I genuinely hope that this message finds you and your family well. As we approach the start of the 2020-2021 school year, I would like to share how we plan on serving students this fall.
Earlier this week, the Los Angeles (LAUSD) and San Diego (SDUSD) Unified School Districts released a joint statement regarding their decision to start the school year 100% online this fall. The decision comes as a result of incomplete re-opening information and vague guidance provided by the County and State, as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics reversing its course and saying it was no longer confident that opening schools in the middle of a public health crisis is the best option for children.
Aligned to this recent announcement, I am writing to share that Endeavor College Prep (ECP) will also begin the school year 100% remote (distance learning). With the recent and sustained spike in COVID-19 cases in LA and surrounding counties, ECP has decided to start the 2020-21 year with every student in a virtual learning environment through at least Labor Day (September 7, 2020). Either at or before this time, we will provide an update and decide whether ECP will continue instruction all online or proceed with the possibility of a hybrid learning plan (a blend of online and in-person). This decision will be informed by County and State guidance. We are currently enhancing our Distance Learning platform and using valuable feedback that you provided to promote a positive distance learning experience for all students.
We are also in the process of securing more chromebooks and headphones to help all families achieve success. ECP is deeply committed to providing the best education possible to your students, regardless of the external circumstances we are facing.
Please be on the lookout for more information regarding our fall plans, which include an upcoming virtual Cafecito (July 28), a virtual New Family Orientation for new families (August 6, 2020) and a virtual Welcome Back to School Night for everyone (August 13, 2020).
Since I started this new role last month, I have been inspired by the commitment and passion of each staff member at our school. We will continue to tackle any obstacles together to ensure our community is safe, connected, and successful.
As the coronavirus situation continues to develop, we are looking at a number of ways to deliver the best possible experiences for students, and we want to make sure all of our students can remain connected to their peers, teachers, and schools and have regular access to learning opportunities and curriculum materials.
To ensure access for all ECP students, we have created the form below for you to fill out. Please complete this form for each student(s).
Thank you for completing the Distance Learning Technology Survey. We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter.
The situation with coronavirus/COVID-19 is unprecedented and evolving rapidly. Safety is always our paramount concern. We have decided to suspend on-campus summer Office Hours for two weeks as we evaluate the appropriate path moving forward. We will maintain you updated with any changes.

The Endeavor family has been reflecting on the unjust and horrifying acts of violence towards the African American community, most recently with the murders of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery.
We are deeply affected as educators, as activists, as parents, and as family members. We know that there needs to be drastic change in our country to address the systemic racism and cycles of discrimination that consistently impact people of color. We owe it to those who have lost their lives, those that have mourned the murder of a loved one, and those who consistently and unjustly fear for their life. We recognize their struggle needs to become our struggle. It will take all of us working together.
We are committed to taking a stand.
We stand against racism. We stand for inclusion, equity, and unity. We believe strongly in addressing systemic racism in the United States and we recommit to providing a quality education to develop our scholars into activists and leaders who can change our world.
We are still processing the intense emotions surrounding the recent events and understand that you, your child, and your families are doing the same. We are here to help your child process, to provide historical context, and to teach him or her to use their voice for change.
We have attached resources to support you in conversations about race and racism at home and will continue to share more. As always, if you or your child needs support, we are here for you.
Be safe,
Danielle Lukk
Head of School
